The 2019 Western Foodservice & Hospitality Expo kicked off on Sunday, August 25 with over 450 vendors, which included providers for food & beverage products, equipment, services, distributors, technology, and more. With so much to see, taste, and experience, the SpotOn team made reservations for lunch with our friends at the California Restaurant Association's booth.
Their space was transformed into a working restaurant with a chef cooking up options like short rib "tot-chos," salmon with a side of quinoa, and colorful vegetable plates. As members of the California Restaurant Association, we were excited to spend time with their staff as well as fellow members of the association. Their hospitality set the tone for the rest of the show, and their booth was a great place to recharge.
Over the course of the three-day event, we were introduced to some awesome companies that are up to super cool things. Our neighbors, Dolishus Donuts launched a world-famous Pon-de-Ring donut that is known for its soft, chewy texture and rip-and-share design that is bursting with flavor. Needless to say, we LOVED being neighbors with these guys.
Over at the Coffee Fest, which was shaking up the world caffeine, we savored lattes and espresso shots from Dillanos Coffee Roasters, home to the 2019 U.S. Barista Champion, Sam Spillman.
We also sipped on dairy alternatives from Elmhurst Plant Based beverages, ranging from milked cashews, oats, and coffee creamer made from golden milk and hemp.
Other sweet sips we came across came courtesy of the beautifully branded Kelvin Slush Co. Their frozen cocktail mix is fully organic with no artificial colors or ingredients.
At their booth, we were connected with Art Sutley, Publisher for Bar Business Magazine. Later that day, we listened to him facilitate a panel discussion titled "Raise the Bar: Training and Elevating the Cocktail Experience." The discussion included Mia Mastroianni, celebrity mixologist, and Rob Floyd, RX Liquid Chef, both of whom have consulted on Paramount Network's Bar Rescue TV Series.
The SpotOn team was also excited to connect with Alex & Yen Manougian, owners of Cafe X2O, which features Lebanese cuisine. They are getting ready to install the SpotOn Restaurant point-of-sale system at some of their locations, and were able to see and experience our cutting-edge technology right there at our exhibition booth.
All in all, the 2019 Western Foodservice & Hospitality Expo was a great experience, and we were thrilled to make so many great connections and new friends. In fact, we've already reserved our spot for 2020!
Next on our list of stops is the Florida Restaurant & Lodging show. If you’re attending, we hope to see you there. For our full calendar of events, make sure to check out the event calendar on our hospitality page.
