The last few weeks leading up to the holidays can be a frantic time, as holiday shoppers are out in full force purchasing presents, eating while on the go, getting ready to travel, and preparing their personal finances and affairs for the new year. Unfortunately, many businesses don’t take full advantage of the increased foot this time of the year. To make sure your business is getting more than just a temporary boost in revenue, use these 3 tips to leverage the holidays so you can stay connected with your customers year round.

1. Build Your Customer Email List

The most important thing you can do this time of year to leverage the holidays is collect email addresses from all the new customers visiting your business. This can be done several ways. We recommend offering a deal as an enrollment reward for customers to enroll in your SpotOn Marketing or Digital Loyalty program. This keeps the checkout line moving swiftly and automatically imports those customer email addresses into your marketing database so you can reach them on a regular basis, particularly after the holidays when business slows down.

Alternatively, you can take a low-tech approach and collect business cards or have a sign up sheet for people to sign up for a holiday giveaway, and then manually type all those new email addresses into your email marketing database.

2. Email Your Existing Customers

Your customers have a lot on their minds this time of the year, so make sure to send them a friendly email to let them know how you can help them out. Your December holiday email should include your holiday business hours, any seasonal products and gifts you offer, and of course well-wishes to your customers. This will keep your business top-of-mind for the holidays and beyond.
