Pitmaster meets Profit Assist

The goal
Butcher Paper BBQ’s rapid growth was great news–until owner Mark Coxwell discovered his COGS were out of control and two locations were unsustainable. He committed to profitability and wanted new ways to manage food costs, increase revenue, and keep labor costs in control.
The solution
Coxwell found Profit Assist. He discovered he was overordering and brought his COGS down by 6%. Through SpotOn Capital, he gained access to capital at a reasonable cost, allowing him to keep investing in his business. Plus, his updated online ordering site brings in up to 20% increase in sales.

"Profit assist helps me find spending irregularities that I would otherwise overlook. Additionally, it is helping me develop better budgeting and spending habits to help improve my bottom line.”

It all started with a scrappy, homemade smoker and handwritten sauce recipes. Butcher BBQ owner Mark Coxwell started a food truck in 2016 because it sounded like fun. Fast forward, he’s working on understanding how his business works, treating his employees well, and creating a sustainable (and delicious) BBQ business for years to come.
